The Stormbringer set - based upon the Firefly class spaceship as seen in the Fox TV Series Firefly and the Movie Serenity - is a tutorial designed for the intermediate 3ds Max user interested in learning more about high polygon modelling, manual detailing procedure, texturing using procedural materials, creation of multi object huge pieces and of course animation of the ship in takeoff configuration as well as advice and practical examples of how to animate for flight.

Further to the main Stormbringer component of the DVD set, there are several appendixes covering additional projects related to the Stormbringer piece including Creation of Shuttles, Animation of the Shuttles, Creation in Pflow of engine wash / flames, Creation of Prefabricated Buildings for Background Use in Sketchup, Additional Refine Techniques to make your model excell and more.

As is normal for 3d-palace sets, this is a complete end to end project with no plugins required. The end user will start with a completely reset 3ds Max empty screen and, by the end of the project, will have a complete rigged up and massively detailed firefly class spaceship. Unlike our rival sites, there are no cuts, no sudden timelapses and no producing a prebuilt piece.

On the DVD you will find reference pictures, work in progress shots and also all of the 3ds Max files from every stage of the development process. You can be assured with 3d-palace DVDs that there is support available via our forums should you ever need it as well as people keen to offer assistance, fair criticism and support at all levels.

For those of you who want to step up their 3D skills or even for someone who loved the TV series and wants to learn how to make their own high detail 3D Stormbringer firefly-class ship, this one it for you!

Detailed Description:
Stormbringer modelling – much of the set involves using polymodelling starting with basic primitives to create the complicated shapes you’ll see in the finished model. Other techniques introduce you to using bridging, manual bevelsmooth techniques, advanced polymodelling, poly on poly and also creation of pipework using copy>rotate>move.

Animation - Animation of the retracting legs, cargobay door, rotating engines, main rotating cylinder and other parts is covered. Linking parts is covered along with keyframing, easing and camera placement / camera animation.

Shuttle modelling – This extended appendix will show you how to model the shuttles used by the Firefly class spaceship - as well as showing how to simply set up its beetlewing extended topwings for flight.

Environment – Using Sketchup this additional appendix covers creation of a simple yet effective city environment for the Stormbringer ship to take off from.
